Ritchie Fund for Plumb Memorial Library
Marjorie Ritchie was a lifelong Shelton resident who truly valued education. She was especially committed to advancing the interests of Shelton's Plumb Memorial Library, which she viewed as a valuable resource for individual growth and development. Upon her passing in 2002, Miss Ritchie left specific instructions in her will that a portion of her estate be left to the Plumb Memorial Library.
The intent of Miss Ritchie's gift was to support the Library and the Shelton community. The terms allowed the library to use the interest earned on the account where it was needed the most. After careful consideration and discussions, the Board reviewed its investment options for this Fund and chose to permanently establish the Fund at VCF.
"By becoming part of the larger fund investment pool at VCF, Miss Ritchie's intent will be realized," said Library Board Chair Barbara Glover. "We recognized the many advantages of establishing an endowment fund at VCF, and believe Miss Ritchie's gift will continue to significantly influence people's lives and learning."
